On to Stockholm

This afternoon, we packed up our things and took the train to Stockholm to begin the next part of our adventure. We arrived in Stockholm this evening at 7:30 and were met at the train station by Margareta. How wonderful it was to see her again! She took us back to their "new" apartment which is a beautiful home in the center of the city. It's on the top floor of an old building near where Astrid Lindgren used to live (the author of Pippi and many other stories). And they have many nice views out their windows. Everyone in the house speaks the most amazing English with virtually no accent, as if they had lived in the US for years and years!

It is much warmer in Stockholm, a balmy -2 C (28 F), which means slushy streets. I don't quite understand how the streets can be slushy when the temperature is still below freezing, but there you have it. When we arrived it was snowing lightly. It has since stopped, though I understand we are expecting more snow tomorrow.
In the morning, we will go to Junibacken, a storybook land featuring the characters from Astrid Lindgren's books, as well as a few characters from other authors. Linnea is really looking forward to meeting Pippi Långstrump and has brought her own Pippi doll to meet her, too!
